An Empty Week - Almost
Wildfire smoke and two sleepless nights put a damper on my week. I didn’t get out until Saturday. Then, I had a good day with opportunities to shoot skyscapes, the sunset, butterflies, and a grasshopper. I was going to wait for the sunset on the edge of Maiden Rock Bluff. I lost patience—not unusual for me-and left early. By the time I hiked back to my car, it was only minutes before sunset. I found a bean field on a county road from where I could shoot the setting sun. Finding a bean field was lucky because on either side of the bean field there were miles of cornfields. The corn was tall enough to block any view of the setting sun.
“I may be old-fashioned. But I believe that there is such a thing as a search for beauty—a delight in the nice things in the world. And I don’t think that one should have to apologize for it.”
