Birds, Flowers, Rivers . . . The Kinnickinnic Begins

I’ve started a project to explore and photograph all the public preserves in Wisconsin’s St. Croix County. There are a few dozen of such preserves ranging from a 2,891-acre state park to small, undeveloped wildlife areas. The photos below are from the Kinnickinnic Headwaters Preserve, the Betterly Waterfowl Production Area, and the Oak Ridge Waterfowl Production Area.

The first pair of photos shows the beginning of the Kinnickinnic River as a small rivulet in the headwaters preserve and its end as a large river flowing into the St. Croix River.
