North Country National Scenic Trail

On the North Country National Scenic Trail

Last week I was on part of the North Country National Scenic Trail that runs from North Dakota to Maine. I hiked the section in Wisconsin that includes the Brule-St. Croix Portage. This portage has been used for centuries by Native Americans, fur trappers, explorers, and hikers to move from the drainage of the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River via the Brule and St. Croix Rivers in Wisconsin.

I ended the day photographing the sunset in the Crex Meadows State Wildlife Area. I shot from a spot from which I’ve photographed many sunsets.
