In Hobbitland

I hiked a trail that went up steep, hard, and rough stone steps. I felt as if I were in a Tolkien adventure. I could imagine Frodo and Sam struggling up the steps in front of me. I struggled and had to stop every few minutes to catch my breath and let my heart slow down. I had to finish if I wanted to get back to my car.

I was at Minnesotas’s Frontenac State Park on Lake Pepin. The hike was a loop using the Upper and Lower Bluffside Trails. It’s been two days since my hike and I’m still worn out. Maybe I’m getting too old for this sort of hiking. Nah! Better to go out hiking and imagine myself as a Tolkien hero than slouching in an easy chair and watching trash TV.
