My Minimalist Photography

Earlier today I wrote a long paragraph on photographic minimalism I thought could be the core of a blog post.  Before finishing the post I wanted to research minimalism to make sure I knew what I was writing about.

I ended up confused, especially when I read that the Minimalist Photography Awards defines twelve categories of minimalist photography, many of which overlap.  What exactly is minimalist photography? I decided to throw out any formal definitions and try to boil my thoughts down to my ideas about minimalist photography.

Minimalist photography is simple and without clutter; it leaves room for the viewer’s imagination.  I lean toward minimalism in the natural world where there are no straight lines or angles.  I don’t like to confine myself to any one genre or style save one strong preference - color over black-and-white.

Here are a few of my minimalist photos.  I have more in my Minimalism gallery.
